Purpose

NHMRC is providing up to $3 million to support Australia-based researchers who are participating as partners in transnational consortia under the NEURON Call for Proposals for multinational research projects on Interdisciplinary Approaches to the Neuroscience of Pain.

Overview

Applications will only be accepted from NHMRC approved Administering Institutions. A list of NHMRC approved Administering Institutions is available at:https://www.nhmrc.gov.au/funding/manage-your-funding/nhmrc-funding/administering-institutions

  • Australia-based researchers mustsubmitan applicationat the full proposal stage to both NHMRC and the NEURON Secretariat to be considered for 2025 NHMRC-NEURON funding. A copy of the submitted NEURON full proposal must be included in the NHMRC application form.
  • The CIA and NHMRC Administering Institution must be listed on both the pre- and full proposal to be eligible for funding.
  • Applications must meet the eligibility and application requirements of all participating fundingorganisationsfrom which they are requesting support

Applications must satisfy all the requirements set out in the2025 NHMRC-NEURONGrant OpportunityGuidelines.

NEURONhas specific eligibility criteria forconsortia. Applications will be excluded from consideration if eligibility requirements are not met, including:

  • Consortia mustcomprisea minimum of three research partners eligible for funding byorganisationslisted in the NEURON Call Text.
  • Eligible researchers must be from at least three different countries
  • The consortium may include a maximum of five (5) project partners (including non-funded partners). The maximum number of partners can be increased to six (6) if the consortium includes at least one partner from an underrepresented country in this funding scheme.
  • No more than two consortia members can be from the same country.
