Purpose

Partnership Projects funding scheme provides funding and support to create new opportunities for researchers and policy makers to work together to define research questions, undertake research, interpret the findings and implement the findings into policy and practice.

Overview

Partnership Projects create partnerships among decision makers, policy makers, managers, clinicians and researchers.

Partnership Projects answer a specific research question to influence health and wellbeing through changes in the delivery, organisation, funding and access to health services.

This scheme allows applicants to apply at any time during the year, rather than through just one annual round. This is to allow researchers and partner organisations to develop timely collaborations. The grant commencement date will be aligned with the timing of each peer review cycle. This allows funding to be administered more quickly after grants are awarded, providing all necessary documentation is in place.

Objectives:

The objectives of the Partnership Project scheme are to:

  • Meet the need for more effective integration of research evidence into health policy and service delivery
  • Create partnerships among policy makers, managers, service providers and researchers
  • Provide support to answer often complex and difficult questions that policy makers, managers and service providers face when making decisions and implementing policies that affect Australians health and health care
  • Be highly responsive to the priorities of government, the community and health professionals
  • Enable applicants to apply for funding at any time during the year to allow researchers and Partner Organisations to develop timely collaborations.

Peer review of applications will occur in three Peer Review Cycles (PRC):

  • Peer Review Cycle 1 – July 2025
  • Peer Review Cycle 2 – November 2025
  • Peer Review Cycle 3 – March 2026

For further details regarding key dates of each PRC refer to Section 7 of the guidelines.
