Purpose
The June Canavan Foundation supports projects that create sustainable outcomes and allow people to help themselves in accordance with the principle of ‘a hand up, not a hand out’.
Overview
The focus areas for The June Canavan Foundation are:

The JCF can also play a valuable role in growing the philanthropic sector, and in being a model and inspiration for other small to medium scale foundations. On this basis, a fifth focus area was added:
- Growing Giving
What size grants are available?
There is no set grant size, however our distributions include small grants and donations (generally $1,000 -$20,000) and large grants (generally $20,000 -$50,000). Favourable consideration will be given to funding multi-year proposals with annual review.
When can you apply?
There is no set application period. You may submit an application for funding at any time, however applications will only be considered twice yearly at bi-annual Board meetings, usually held in March and September. The cut-off date for having your application considered at the March meeting is 1 February, and for consideration at the September meeting is 1 August. Application cut-off dates may occasionally vary due to fluctuations in meeting dates, and these will be highlighted on the current application form.
Limitations
Who is eligible?
The June Canavan Foundation has been established as a Private Ancillary Fund, which means that we can only distribute money to organisations that are endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as having Item 1 Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) and Tax Concession Charity status.
We are unable to fund individuals.
