The Environmental Grant Program is derived from contributions made by Maules Creek Coal, Boggabri Coal and Tarrawonga Coal Mines under Voluntary Planning Agreements.

The program is administered by the Leards Forest Precinct Environmental Trust Inc. The Trust consists of representatives from the above mines, community and Gunnedah and Narrabri Shire Councils.

Applications will be required to be submitted by 30 April to be eligible to be funded in the May of each year and by 15 October to be considered in the November of each year.
