Purpose
Grants are available for charitable projects in the Limestone Coast which have a focus on community health and well-being, education, welfare, the arts, inclusion, animal welfare, community development, religion and the environment.
Overview
Grants up to $10,000 are available for charitable projects in the Limestone Coast which have a focus on community health and well-being, education, welfare, the arts, inclusion, animal welfare, community development, religion and the environment.
This grants program is designed to support the people and projects of the Limestone Coast and is aimed at community groups and not for profit organisations located in, or servicing, the seven council areas of the Limestone Coast.
Limitations
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants Community groups and not-for-profit organisations based in or servicing the Limestone Coast area.
As Stand Like Stone is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a tax concession charity (TCC) it is required to fund projects that are charitable in nature.
Characteristics of charitable projects include:
- Projects that meet one, or more, of the following areas of charitable purpose:
- Health
- Education
- Welfare
- The Arts
- Religion
- Inclusion
- Animal Welfare
- Natural Environment
- Projects that help those who lack the resources to obtain what is necessary for a modest standard of living in the Australian community
- Projects that help to advance education
- Projects that are beneficial to the community such as public works and community facilities; promotion of industry, commerce and agriculture; defence and public order; improvement and protection of the environment; moral improvement.
- Projects that have a public benefit rather than a private benefit
- Projects that help relieve poverty, sickness or distress
Ineligible applicants
- Previous recipients who have not completed their acquittal report and returned it to Stand Like Stone.
Projects or activities that are not eligible to be funded:
- Expenses that are not related to, or necessary for the project.
- The encouragement or advancement of sport and recreation, and social and political activities are not considered charitable by the Australian Taxation Office.
- Applications from sporting organisations need to be charitable, benefit the wider community and should clearly indicate which other local organisations are involved (such as establishing a community gym in a sporting club that anyone can use).
- Government departments and organisations are not considered charitable by the Australian Taxation Office.
- Applications from government departments and organisations need to demonstrate that they are not seeking funding for activities which are the core responsibility of Government, and the project needs to be in addition to its core purpose (such as a school establishing a community vegetable garden).
- Projects which give donations to other organisations.
- Projects which have already occurred or will occur before being advised of the outcome of the application. At least 8 weeks after the application closing date should be allowed when planning your project.
