Purpose

This grant will support organisations to improve their sustainability practices and/or promote sustainability in the community.

Overview

This grant support organisations to:

  • Increase community awareness and understanding of environmental sustainability.
  • Help ensure our natural environment is healthy and sustainable for future generations.
  • Build community capacity to live sustainably through efficient use of water and energy, including use of renewable energy, resource recovery and/or reuse of materials, and increasing biodiversity.
  • Reduce waste and litter and eliminate the use of single-use plastics.

This grant can support initiatives and projects that demonstrate diverse environmental sustainability benefits, including: 

  • Mitigate and adapt to local climate change impacts.
  • Programs focused on reducing, reusing and recycling using circular waste principles.
  • Establish initiatives to reduce litter and waste.
  • Protect and enhance biodiversity.
  • Care for local natural environments including open space, bushland, reserves and waterways.
  • Support local and sustainable food production and distribution.
  • Encourage sustainable transport initiatives including walking and cycling.
  • Increase community awareness and understanding of environmental sustainability.

Limitations

Who can apply?

The Environment and Sustainability Grant is open to the following applicants:

  • Not-for-profit and incorporated organisations, clubs and groups.
  • An auspice of an appropriate organisation including a not-for-profit and incorporated organisation.
  • An organisation delivering a service that is the responsibility of State or Federal Government whereby the initiative is outside of their core business.
