Purpose

The Grassroots Grants program supports community based organisations, volunteer groups and individuals who work at a local level on a not-for-profit basis to help in the management of the region’s landscape and natural assets.

Overview

Grassroots grants to support individuals, volunteers, schools, community groups/organisations and not-for-profit organisations who are working locally to care for the land they love.

A total pool of $250,000 funding is available for projects across two funding tiers.

Tier 1 up to $4000 - Total funding pool is $70k

Tier 2 $4,001 up to $20,000 - Total funding pool is $180,000

Consideration may be given to collaborative projects above $20,000, however, sufficient justification must be provided and will be subject to additional scrutiny by the Assessment Panel. For projects above $20,000 multiple project partners and significant co-contribution is expected. Contact the Board Office to further discuss projects over $20,000.

Limitations

Who can apply?

The applicant will need to:

  • be an individual, volunteer, community organisation or other body working at the local level delivering a not-for-profit project;
  • be undertaking landscape management activities that help to achieve environmental benefits at the local level;
  • be a legal entity, be sponsored by a legal entity , or if you are an individual without an ABN, contact us to find out how we can support your application;
  • ensure they are adequately insured with minimum of $1 million public liability insurance coverage for the life of the project;
  • Include a site map showing location of proposed project and work. We recommend NatureMaps. If you have trouble producing a map, contact us
  • ensure that proposed project activities are not a component of any other funding agreement;
  • ensure that written approval for any works undertaken on land owned by another person/entity other than the applicant, is attached to the application; and
  • be undertaking project activities within the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board region.
  • Have discussed their project with a Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board staff member prior to submission.
