Purpose
The Grants Program supports projects which improve the capability, capacity, and availability of facilities, equipment, and systems.
Overview
Round 2 supports applicants that currently operate a landfill and/or resource recovery facility in Tasmania that receives more than 1000 tonnes of materials per year.
The objectives of the grant are to:
- Diversion of materials from landfill
- Promoting the Tasmanian circular economy
- Improvement in avoidance, reduction, reuse, repair, recycling, and recovery of priority materials in accordance with the Waste Hierarchy
Priority
Submissions that can demonstrate a clear improvement of the reuse, repair, collection, sorting, processing, recycling and remanufacturing of priority materials will be prioritised.
Priority products and materials are as follows, and other materials and sectors will be considered on presentation of their merits:
- Construction and demolition products and materials
- Plastics products and packaging
- Agricultural, aquacultural and industrial plastics
- Organics
- Tyres
- Textiles, and
- Oil and chemical solvents.
Limitations
Eligible applicants must:
- currently operate a landfill and/or resource recovery facility in Tasmania that receives more than 1000 tonnes of materials per year, and
- be ABN registered, and
- be GST registered, and
- in the case of joint or consortium applications, nominate in writing a single, principal applicant, signed by all parties, and
- in the case of joint or consortium applications, provide written evidence of the support and degree of project involvement of all parties, and
- disclose any past convictions or fines in the last five (5) years received under the Waste and Resource Recovery Act 2022, Criminal Code Act 1924, Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994, and Land Use Planning Approvals Act 1993 (past convictions do not necessarily exclude applicants from receiving funding under this grant program), and
- be able to demonstrate appropriate Work Cover and public liability insurance for the proposed project, and
- include a signed declaration (template provided in the Application Form) from either the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Board Chair, General Manager or an accountant to confirm the applicant's financial ability to deliver the outcomes of the project, including information relating to:
- sites, operational premises and/or office locations,
- Australian Business Number (ABN) registration,
- Goods and Services Tax registration (GST),
- insolvency, and not having owners/directors who are an undischarged bankrupt,
- external administration or applications for orders to appoint liquidators, or to be wound up or dissolved, or any other action relating to insolvency,
- financial and cash flow planning in place to ensure the delivery of the project on time and to budget.
