Purpose

The Community Development Fund provides funding to clubs, organisations and community groups for the provision of programs, projects, activities or events that deliver outcomes for the benefit of Warrnambool residents.

Overview

Applications that are eligible will fall under one of the following categories.

Funding categories

Sport and recreation - Up to $5,000

Support for; innovative projects that increase participation; increase access to sport; raise awareness of club; building club capacity; & purchase of assets.

Culture and arts - Up to $5,000

Support for; encouraging participation in creative outcomes; increase access to creative activities; raise awareness of club; building club capacity; & purchase of assets.

Environment and sustainability - Up to $5,000

Support for; projects that align with goals and actions outlined in Green Warrnambool; raise awareness of club; building club capacity; & purchase of assets.

Based on the total funding pool available, the following allocations are aligned to each category.

  • Sport & Recreation $45,000
  • Culture & Arts $35,000
  • Environmental & Sustainability $20,000

If the total pool of funding in each category is not expended then any remainder will be redirected to other categories where applications exceed the funding pool.

Applications are ranked according to project merit, equity and balance of funds available.

Limitations

Who can apply?

Grant applications must be from clubs, associations, or community groups that are; 

  • Registered as a not-for-profit constituted body such as an Incorporated Association (group must have committee endorsement to do so and evidence of, provided with application), or 
  • Auspiced by an incorporated not-for-profit organisation that is able to accept legal and financial responsibility for the grant and activity

In addition to the above criteria, organisations must also; 

  • be based in Warrnambool City municipality 
  • provide an ABN or completed Statement by Supplier form 
  • have no outstanding debts to Council 
  • provide an incorporation number 
  • provide one written quote for each individual item or service that is essential for the delivery of the proposed activity 
  • have completed an acquittal (financial reporting form) for any previous grant funding rounds

Who is not eligible?

Applicants will not be eligible for funding if they are; 

  • An Individual (Exception: the Culture & Arts category accepts individual applications but applicants must be Auspiced by a group that is a not-for-profit constituted body such as an Incorporated Association). 
  • A Committee of Council including Advisory Committees, Committees of Management or SubCommittees. 
  • A group that is already receiving substantial financial support from Council 
  • Groups that have access to substantive levels of current funding not generally available to local clubs or organisations, including those clubs that operate gaming machines 
  • For-profit or commercial organisations or groups, schools and community based agencies
