Purpose
The Preparing Community Service Organisations for Climate Change Grant aims to support Community Services Organisations to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
Overview
This is a one-off pilot program that will support organisations to identify climate risks and implement actions that will support the ongoing viability and effectiveness of their operations.
It aims to test the suitability and effectiveness of these resources to support CSOs in continuing to deliver essential services to priority populations and mitigate the risks associated with a changing climate.
Funding of up to $50,000 per grant is available across 2 stages:
- Stage 1: $15,000 is available to organisations to undertake a climate risk assessment and prepare an adaptation plan.
- Stage 2: Up to $35,000 is available to organisations to support the implementation of adaptation plan actions approved as part of Stage 1.
- Non completion of Stage 1 deliverables will result in conclusion of the grant agreement and no access to Stage 2 funding.
Limitations
To be eligible for the pilot program, an organisation (or the auspicing organisation) must meet the following criteria:
- Be a not-for-profit CSO with an incorporated legal structure registered under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) (e.g. be an incorporated association, a company limited by guarantee, an Indigenous corporation or a nontrading cooperative). Non-incorporated CSOs can apply through an auspicing incorporated not-for-profit organisation. Operate in the ACT.
- Be a CSO that currently receives funding from the ACT Government to support service delivery.
- Have no overdue acquittal obligations for any previous ACT Government grants. All outstanding acquittals must be completed prior to submitting an application.
- Have appropriate insurance cover held by the organisation (or auspicing organisation). This may include Public Liability of no less than $10 million, Personal Accident, Volunteer Cover and or Directors Professional Indemnity. Evidence of insurance will be required as a condition of the grant for selected CSOs.
- Be applying for funding for planning and activities to be undertaken within the ACT and primarily for the benefit of ACT residents.
- Be prepared to, or via an auspicing arrangement, enter into a Deed of Grant with the Territory.
- Applications must have the endorsement of the organisation's Board or equivalent.
