Purpose

Schools are encouraged to get involved in this year’s Trees for Schools program to help increase tree canopy cover and create more green spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Overview

Eligible schools can apply for up to 50 trees through an expression of interest process open to every primary and secondary school in our service area.

The Trees for Schools program is a partnership between GWW, the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), local councils and ecoDynamics through the More Trees for a Cooler Greener West program and Greening the West.

This project helps schools prepare for Climate Change and improves school grounds for comfort and connection with nature.

Imagine shady spots at lunch time, critters and birds in abundance to entertain curious minds and cooler classrooms.

You can choose to plant in one or multiple locations.

You can plant around the perimeter of the school or oval, or group the trees to form solid areas of vegetated shade.

Your school will receive a mix of lower, mid and upper storey trees and shrubs.

Limitations

Expressions of interest are open to every primary and secondary school in the Greater Western Water service area.
