Purpose
The Children's Peace Literature Award recognises books in which the main character(s) encourage the peaceful resolution of conflict and /or promote peace at the global, local or interpersonal level.
Overview
The award is made biennially by the Psychologists for Peace Interest Group South Australian State Group.
In judging nominations for the Childrens Peace Literature Award, the selection committee will have regard to:
- the extent to which the theme of the book encourages the peaceful resolution of conflict and/or promotes peace at the global, local or interpersonal level; and
- literary merit.
Successful candidates for the Children’s Peace Literature Award will receive an equal share of the award of $4000.
Limitations
- Nominees need not be members of the Society.
- Authors who have published a book for children (up to 18 years) in the period commencing two years prior to July in the year the call for nominations is made are eligible for consideration for the prize.
- Authors should be Australian or normally reside in Australia.
