Purpose
The purpose of this grant opportunity is to focus on building the home care workforce in regional, rural, and remote locations where workforce shortages are the most acute by providing funding for an additional 4,000 Personal Care Workers (PCWs) to be engaged in these regions.
Overview
The objectives of the grant opportunity are to:
- support the home care sector in regional, rural, and remote locations where workforce shortages are most acute.
- attract, retain, train, and support additional PCWs.
- increase home care provider capability to support effective recruitment and retention as well as to adopt best practice workforce planning and management.
- assist PCWs (both new and existing) to access training more readily and build the skills required to deliver quality aged care services.
- enhance the mentoring and leadership skills of the existing workforce to support career pathways and ensure better support and retention of new PCWs to the home care workforce.
- improve the cultural safety of home care providers and existing workforce to support the retention of First Nations workers in the home care sector.
