Purpose
This grant supports Individual representation in a sport or recreational event at regional, state or national level.
Overview
Wiri Yuwiburra Community Benefits Trust has developed a range of Grant Programs to support and assist Aboriginal Group beneficiaries in alignment with the Trust Deed and its objectives.
The Individual Representative Sport can be applied for by the participant twice per calendar year.
The Community Benefits Program offers funding to eligible applicants for the below types of projects or activities that provide community benefits:
- Cultural Health and Wellbeing
- Funeral and/or Tombstone assistance
- Individual Representative Sport
- Team Sport Sponsorship
Limitations
General Eligibility
The Trust is governed by a Trust Deed. To be eligible to apply for a grant, the applicant must be a "Beneficiary".
A Beneficiary is:
- Any Wiri, Yuwiburra and Barada Barna Peoples, regardless of residential status.
- Any member of the broader Birri Gubba Nation resident in the Agreement Area.
Specific guidelines and information that relate to this area of funding are as follows:
- The potential grant recipient must be selected to represent a sport or recreational activity at a regional, state, or national event based on merit using the criteria of skill level and performance.
- This program funding does not include club or school sports/recreation representation.
- The potential grant recipient can be a competitor, coach, manager, official or trainer.
- Recreational activities may include dance, mathematics, poetry, hunting, rock climbing, singing, painting, or bowling.
- The Trust will use its discretion in deciding if an activity is an acceptable form of sport or recreation.
- Financial assistance can be requested for expenses such as fees and levies, uniforms, required equipment, air/ground travel expenses, etc.
