This grant is available for one application per calendar year for a maximum of $5,000.

Limitations

General Eligibility

The Trust is governed by a Trust Deed. To be eligible to apply for a grant from the Trust, the applicant must be a “Beneficiary”.

The Trust Deed defines that a “Beneficiary” is the following groups of people:-

  • Any Wiri, Yuwiburra and Barada Barna Peoples, regardless of residential status.
  • Any member of the broader Birri Gubba Nation resident in the Agreement Area

Information relevant to the Research Program

Specific guidelines and information that relate to this area of funding are as follows:-

  • Funding applications must first be pursued through existing avenues (eg Link Up, Personal Histories, State Library). If those applications are unsuccessful (and the Trust can request documentary evidence of this) the Trust may grant funding for the following purposes:-
    • Assistance with preserving histories and languages from primary sources; and
    • Documenting Family Histories.
  • Any funding received towards the research from a third party must be declared to the Trust.
