Purpose

This grant aims to support guidelines research that investigates use and implementation of TGL point of care guidelines in general practice.

Overview

The aim of this grant is to support research that investigates use and implementation of TGL point of care guidelines in general practice. Research projects may focus on:

  • Content and format of TGL electronic products, including presentation, usability, navigation, access and functionality of guidelines. How do GPs want information presented?
  • Behavioural aspects of guideline use. How do people use TGL guidelines and how often? What is looked up, and when and why? How can incorporation of TGL guidelines into everyday practice be improved?
  • Outcomes/impact of TGL guidelines use. What are the benefits of using TGL guidelines? How do they improve prescribing and health outcomes?
  • Evidence-practice gaps. How could TGL guidelines be used to improve evidence-based prescribing?

While research falling under any of these areas will be considered, studies focusing on (3) and (4) are encouraged as areas of particular interest to TGL. Both pilot studies and proposals for full-scale research studies will be considered. The grant is not designed to support primary research on clinical issues or guidelines development.
