Purpose
ANZEF's annual grant rounds support initiatives that advance eye health equity and access for communities in Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, and the Asia-Pacific region*.
Overview
Grants of up to AUD $50,000 available.
- In line with RANZCO's expertise in ophthalmological education, standard setting, and advocacy, ANZEF supports initiatives and partnerships in three priority areas:
- Education and Capacity Building
- Research and Innovation
- Advocacy and Awareness
- Foundation funding and partnership decisions are guided by how they will advance ANZEF's mission and contribute to RANZCO's strategic priorities.

Who Can Apply?
RANZCO members and associates; organisations and professionals working in eye health, global health and ophthalmic education.
Selection Criteria - What We're Looking For
ANZEF aims to support education, research and awareness/advocacy projects which demonstrate the potential for meaningful impact to address eye health inequities and improve access to eye care for Australian, New Zealand or Asia-Pacific communities. Focus areas may include, but are not limited to:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (First Nations), Mori and Pacific eye health
- Growing the First Nations, Mori and Pacific ophthalmology workforce
- Cultural safety in the delivery of eye care
- Global eye health collaboration and development *NB: Project countries eligible for the 2025 Grant Round are listed below under "Specific Requirements"
- Rural and remote eye health
Specific Requirements
- Projects must be delivered in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Vanuatu, Samoa or Nauru.
- The total value of funds requested per application may not exceed AUD $50,000.
- Activities funded by this grant must be completed and the funds acquitted within three years of either the activity start date or first grant payment (subject to ANZEF approval).
- ANZEF will not accept grant applications for projects intended for political association or religious purposes.
- Applications must outline the needs being addressed and demonstrate the project's capacity to achieve intended outcomes and aims within the funded period. Applications must include a project budget and implementation plan which outlines the project team, activities, and milestones for the grant period. Where relevant, please specify whether the project is finite or intended to continue after the grant period.
