Purpose
The purpose of this grant opportunity is to provide funding for projects that improve the management, delivery or use of Medicare pathology services.
Overview
The grant opportunity will invest in projects that support the pathology sector and relevant interested parties to collaborate on innovative approaches to improve pathology related practices amongst requesters/referrers, providers and consumers of pathology services.
The objectives of the QUP grant stream are:
- Quality Pathology Practice: To support professional practice standards that meet consumer and referral needs and provide evidence-based, best practice, quality assured services that are safe, efficient and cost effective;
- Quality Referrals (Requesting/Ordering): To support referral practices that: are informed and facilitated by best practice professional relationships and protocols between referrers and providers; are informed by evidence; maximise health benefits; and inform and engage consumers; and
- Quality Consumer Services: To develop and improve consumer-focussed, accessible and coordinated services that promote informed choice and meet consumer needs.
Limitations
Eligibility
To be eligible you must be one of the following entity types:
- Indigenous Corporation (registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006);
- Company;
- Local Government;
- Cooperative;
- Incorporated Association; or
- Partnership.
Applications can only be accepted from:
- A professional medical college;
- A university or higher education organisation;
- A company incorporated in Australia;
- An incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust; and
- A registered charity or not-for-profit organisation.
Applicants must:
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN);
- Be registered for the purposes of GST;
- Be a permanent resident of Australia; and
- Have an account with an Australian financial institution.
Applications from consortia are acceptable, providing there is a lead organisation that is solely accountable to the Commonwealth for the delivery of grant activities and is an eligible entity as per the list above. Only the lead organisation can submit the application form and enter into a grant agreement with the Commonwealth.
