Purpose

The Westpac Young Technologist Scholarship supports Australia’s future technologists by providing funding for talented individuals to study at one of our five partner universities and includes the Disruptive Leaders Program, a bespoke leadership program, and lifelong membership to the W100 Alumni Network. 

Overview

There will be up to 35 scholarships awarded each year, about 7 scholarships at each of our five partner universities.

The Westpac Young Technologist Scholarship is valued at $20,000 and includes funding to the scholar of $5,000 per year for three years ($15,000 total) and the Disruptive Leaders Program, valued at $5,000. 

The duration of the scholarship is three years.

The Westpac Young Technologist Scholarship program is offered at the following universities:

  • Murdoch University
  • Queensland University of Technology
  • RMIT
  • Western Sydney University
  • University of Wollongong.

Limitations

Criteria

To apply students must have completed the appropriate level of education to gain university entrance within the last two years. Students must enrol in an approved technology-related degree at one of five partner universities.

Applicants may enrol in a dual or double degree, however this must occur from the point of application and include a technology degree.

Who can apply?

Open to students who have:

  • A passion for technology.
  • Interest in enhancing Australia's future technology landscape.
  • Focus on personal growth and development.
  • Commitment to be an active Westpac Scholar Alumni member.
  • Diverse skills and experience.
  • Academic excellence, with a minimum credit average for the duration of the degree.

Eligibility:

  1. be an Australian citizen or permanent resident; 
  2. have completed high school within the last two years; 
  3. have chosen to commence an approved technology-related degree next year at one of our five partner universities.  Please note: at the time of applying you do not need a formal offer to your course of choice.
  4. be able to attend the Young Tech, Disruptive Leaders Program in Singapore (July 2026); and 
  5. be able to attend the 2025 Westpac Scholars Summit in Sydney on 7-8 April.  Note: travel and accommodation expenses related to this event are covered by Westpac Scholars Trust.
