Purpose
A Churchill Fellowship offers Australian citizens a life-changing opportunity to travel overseas for 4 to 8 weeks to learn more about a topic or issue that they are passionate about.
Overview
Applicants are empowered to design their own projects to explore international best practice and innovation that can be applied in Australia.
The amount of money awarded for every Fellowship is different as it is calculated based on the number of countries visited, the duration of the approved Fellowship and an estimated airfare.
Every year varies slightly but nationally the Trust typically receives close to 1,000 applications per year and awards around 100 Fellowships per year.
Limitations
Eligibility
Any Australian Citizen or permanent resident of Australia over the age of 18 can apply.
Fellowships are awarded to individuals only.
Joint Fellowships can be awarded to applicants who have a project in issues that affect First Nations peoples that is justifiably strengthened by having at least one Indigenous perspective on the topic. You can read more about our alternative Fellowship types here.
